Brian Jin
Movie Director, but with sound
Brian comes all the way from Fort Hood, Texas. He is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose evocative, genre-blending music captures the raw essence of human experience. Leading Brian Jin (when in band form: Casey Wollberg (vocals, guitar, percussion), and Nick Kladky (vocals, bass, keyboards)), Brian crafts a cinematic lo-fi sound that spans folk, Americana, blues, rock, and psychedelic indie. Hailing from O’Fallon, Missouri, his music reflects a deep connection to his roots, inspired by childhood memories of spinning his parents’ Gordon Lightfoot and Creedence Clearwater Revival records, with “Proud Mary” igniting his lifelong passion for music.
Brian’s career really began following the dissolution of pop/rock band, the Barnacles, with the 2009 experimental blues EP “Red Dirt Blues”, evolving through jam-band vibes in “Far to Roam” (2015) and a folk-EDM fusion in “We Should Talk” (2019). The COVID lockdown sparked a prolific streak, yielding the raw, narrative-driven “Birmingham New Street & Other Experiences” (2020), which exploded his audience, followed by the critically acclaimed and top streamer/bestseller, “The Frenchtown Connection” (2021) and the introspective “The Last Good High” (2021). His 2022 release, “You Are The Moon”, radiates jubilant energy, while “A Hush Falling Over the West” (2024) marks a shift toward a polished progressive rock style, with tracks like “Soma” and “Fine By Me” showcasing his poetic storytelling. This album would earn a nomination for the 2025 Josie Music Awards.
The latest album is “Secret Words”, which is a collection of b-sides, outtakes, and oddities. It plays like an album all to itself with all the points that make a Brian Jin album such an interesting listen. Let’s see where we go from here!…
